The Rookie by Kendall Ryan (Looking to Score #3)

⭐⭐⭐⭐🌠

Kendall Ryan steals my heart again! 4.5 stars - I'm always a sucker for a good sports romance, but this one mostly takes place outside of the sports world, and I loved every moment of it.

Logan Tate is spiraling out of control after the sudden loss of his father. It's causing him to act out during game play and when he's forced to take some time away and get some help, he's left having to face the one thing he's been running from...his family.

Summer is trying to establish herself as a sports therapist, so if that means pursuing Logan to his family home in order to convince him to give her a chance, she doesn't let anything stop her.

I loved watching Logan's entire family embrace Summer as one of their own. The family dynamic, especially between the siblings, will warm your heart and have you laughing through tears.

A great story of personal growth, overcoming loss, and discovering what truly makes you happy in life. I'm definitely going back and starting this series from the beginning, but don't miss out on this one!

 💧 Drama

💋 Romance

🏒 Sports

SUMMARY:

He has everything a man could want. A lucrative hockey contract. Adoring fans. A family who loves him.

But he's about to throw it all away. Logan Tate's name is dominating the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Instead of goals and assists, the talented young defenseman has been racking up fights and suspensions.

I work with athletes who are struggling, but Logan's different. He's not just going to blow his season, but his entire career. And now he can't return to the ice until he deals with his issues, but the stubborn man won't let anyone get close enough to help.

Which is why I packed up and followed him to his family's property in the remote mountains of Colorado. He can't avoid me here.

The only problem?

I can't avoid him either. He's chopping wood and building fires, rescuing my car from snowy ditches, and inviting me to Sunday dinners with his loud extended family. He's a whole lot of man, but beneath all those hard edges is an unexpected tenderness.

Tempted or not, I have to stay out of his bed and get him back to the ice...no matter how difficult that might be.

Project Personality by Kelly Anne Blount & Lynn Rush (Twin River High #2)

💙💙💙💙💙

So much heart in one story! Project Personality will give you all the feels from start to finish, so many emotional barriers and mountains to climb, my heart broke for these characters.

Hope Chambers is blessedly clueless when it comes to the popular crowd, but the one person who's always been polite to her, is the one guy she needs to guide her for the next two weeks.

Landon Watkins has more of a dark past than anyone knows, but there's something about Hope that draws him in and makes him want to trust her. After losing his Grandma, he starts to fall into old habits and Hope is the light that can pull him out of it.

This story had my heart in it's fist and just kept squeezing, but I hung on to every word. I loved the character development and how they overcome so many obstacles together. Plenty of laughter, getting into trouble and finding genuine friendship - this was the perfect addition to the Twin River High series.

 💧 Drama

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

Hope Chambers has a major problem. She's spent the entirety of her four years of high school focusing on being perfect -- perfect grades, perfect extracurriculars, perfect essays -- to the point that she forgot to get a life. And now she's perfectly boring.

She's got exactly two weeks before her admissions interview for MIT to spice up her life and get a personality, dammit. And she knows exactly who can help her: soccer star and Mr. Popularity himself, Landon Watkins. But how does a nerdy, socially awkward girl ask the most charismatic guy in school to help her become interesting?

Saving his life in the school cafeteria is a pretty good start.

No one is more surprised than Hope when Landon agrees to help her. But what he proposes they do takes her so far out of her shell, she's practically in a different ocean. And when she starts falling for the last guy she ever expected to, it has her second-guessing every decision she's ever made...

Back in the Burbs by Tracy Wolff, Avery Flynn (The Burbs #1)

🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

If you need a good escape from reality, this is it! Back in the Burbs was everything I was hoping for from this dynamic pair of writers, and more!!!

Nick is one of those broody characters that you love to hate, the kind that always follow the rules and sticks to a daily routine that doesn't involve having a social life.

Mallory has suffered one loss after another and is tired of people making decisions for her and being told what she should do. This is the fresh start she needs and she'll do everything in her power to make it a reality.

I adore all of Avery Flynn's books, so I knew I would be all-in with this one, but from the first to last page I was a goner. So many shenanigans with the HOA and surrounding busy-bodies, you're guaranteed to get a good ab workout from laughter.

With plenty of witty banter, tender moments of realization and an underlying romance with the enemy, this has been quite the delightful escape from the norm. Put this on your must-read list for 2021!

😄 Comedy

 💧 Drama

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

Ever have one of those days where life just plain sucks? Welcome to my last three months -- ever since I caught my can't-be-soon-enough ex-husband cheating with his paralegal. I'm thirty-five years old, and I've lost my NYC apartment, my job, my money, and frankly, my dignity.

But the final heartache in the suck sandwich of my life? My great-aunt Maggie died. The only family member who's ever gotten me.

Ever after death, though, she's helping me get back up. She's willed me the keys to a house in the burbs, of all places, and dared me to grab life by the family jewels. Well, I've got the vise grips already in hand (my ex should take note) and I'm ready to fight for my life again.

Too bad that bravado only lasts as long as it takes to drive into Huckleberry Hills. And see the house.

There are forty-seven separate HOA violations, and I feel them all in my bones. Honestly, I'm surprised no one's "accidentally" torched the house yet. I want to, and I've only been standing in front of it for five minutes. But then my hot, grumpy neighbor tells me to mow the lawn first and I'm just...done. Done with men too sexy for their own good and done with anyone telling me what to do ever again.

First rule of surviving the burbs? There is nothing that YouTube and a glass of wine can't conquer.

Boots on the Ground by April Canavan (Birch Police Department #2)

💙💙💙💙💙

April continues to wreck my heart! Boots on the Ground is a beautifully broken second chance romance that will wrap itself around your heart and squeeze until you ask for more.

I knew Linc was going to have a past that would rip me apart, but Kennedy...I've never wanted to reach through the pages and hug a character more than I did with her.

The Birch Police Department series has knocked the wind out of me with each story. I'm seriously contemplating investing in Kleenex stock now, but I wouldn't change a single second of the ride and can't wait for the next one to release.

 💧 Drama

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

Kennedy

I stayed away.
Even though it crushed me.
Because that's what he wanted.
I distanced myself from the man I love.
I moved on, or so I told the world.
Went through the motions, and smiled when I wanted to cry.
Then chaos flashes into my life, destroying everything in its path.
It's time to face facts.
Lincoln Hayes is the only one I trust.
The only one who keeps the nightmares at bay.

Linc

I love her.
Thoughts of her came with every bullet that flew past my head overseas.
Every night, I dream about her and what we could have had.
She's the only reason I came home.
The reason I stay, even though the very sight of her is torture.
After my brother died in my arms, everything changed.
I'm damaged. Broken.
She deserves so much more than I could ever be.
I'll forever want the life I can never have.
That doesn't mean that I won't watch her six.
Boots on the ground, active and ready.
I'll take out any threat she faces.
No matter the cost...because I'm not strong enough to lose her again.

Holding You Close by Kennedy Fox (Ex-Con Duet Series #4)

💜💜💜💜💜

This is book 2 in the Noah & Katie duet and must be read in order. If you haven't read Pushing You Away yet, STOP and come back once you have.

A thrilling conclusion to the duet! Holding You Close starts off with a bang, literally. Kennedy Fox holds nothing back from their readers, and you won't be able to put the book down once you start.

My heart went out to Owen in this one, as children are typically the scene-stealers for me. Not knowing who to trust throughout the story or what disaster was waiting right around the corner, had me on the edge of my seat and staying up well past midnight for closure.

I can't wait for Everleighs' story in Forcing You Away! The Ex-Con Duet series are the perfect blend of drama, romance, loss and family. These duets are worth the wait between books and guaranteed to leave you happy and wanting more.

SUMMARY:

After serving a decade long prison sentence for an accident that resulted in my husband's death, Noah Reid returns. Even if he was my childhood best friend and the first man I secretly loved, I refuse to make it easy for him. But the heart never forgets and those old repressed feelings quickly bubble to the surface.

Loving him is a dangerous game but one I'm willing to play.

Flirting leads to falling between the sheets, and I'm forced to deal with the guilt of what we're doing. Viciousness towards Noah runs rampant and while revenge trickles through the streets of Lawton Ridge, I realize there's more on the line than just my heart. While I'm afraid that my son and I will be caught in the crossfire of those who want to hurt Noah, I can't walk away.

Secrets are revealed and revelations are made, but losing him again isn't an option -- especially since I'm pregnant.

To Catch a Dream by Audrey Carlan (Wish #2)

💙💙💙💙💙

A beautifully heartbreaking addition to the series! To Catch a Dream dives even deeper into the lives of Evie and Suda Kaye, leaving you counting down the days until the next book in the Wish series.

Evie Ross is the girl you just want to embrace and make an honorary member of your family. She feels as though everyone leaves her eventually, and she's not worth anyone staying around for.

When tragedy strikes, it brings up feelings that were once buried, leaving even more uncertainty in its wake.

The Wish series has my whole heart and I'm so thankful to be taken on such an amazing journey of love, loss and sisterhood. Audrey Carlan is a writing goddess, who knows just how to pull my heartstrings, and I always ask for more!

 💧 Drama

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

When their mother passed away, Evie Ross and her sister were each given a stack of letters, one to be opened every year on their birthday; letters their free-spirited mother hoped would inspire and guide them through adulthood. But although Evie has made a successful career, her desire for the stability and security she never had from her parents has meant she's never experienced the best life has to offer. But the discovery of more letters hidden in a safe-deposit box points to secrets her mother held close, and possibly a new way for Evie to think about her family, her heart and her dreams.

Concede by Kathy Coopmans (The Diamond Empire #1)

❤❤❤❤❤

Brutally moving story! Concede holds nothing back and isn't afraid to punch you where it hurts.

Watching Victoria lose nearly everyone she loves, had me heartbroken and invested in the the outcome of her story from the very beginning. Her need for vengeance and putting up a strong exterior takes everything she has.

Seth is determined to be there for her and break down her impenetrable walls, but there's only so much he can do and take. When he joins the family to help keep Victoria safe from an unknown threat, he'll not only be putting his life on the line, but his heart as well.

I required a lot of chocolate while reading this book, but it was worth every calorie and tear shed. Such a wonderful mafia tale with characters that will own you, all while still haunting you days after you finish reading their story.

 💧 Drama

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

For years, I pretended to be something I'm not. Drowning the beast living inside of me in copious amounts of alcohol and women. Not that I complained.

And then Victoria Hughes walks back into my life, and took me by surprise.

The woman stunning me clear out of my mind the minute my mouth touched hers.

After tragedy strikes and knocks her off her feet, I expected her to come to me, yet she didn't. She pretended we're nothing. But I see her. I've watched her, and she's fighting grief while battling an all-consuming need for vengeance.

If anyone understands that, it's me.

Deep down, she knows the only way to ease the pain is to give in to me and let justice bleed from her enemy's veins.

And she will. I'm the type of man to make sure of it.

But there's a problem. We have no idea who the enemy is. All we know is they want to destroy The Diamond Empire.

Friends Like Us by Sarah Mackenzie (Cranberry Cove #2)

💖💖💖💖

A feel-good story you won't forget! Friends Like Us is the heart-wrenching journey of two friends at different points of their life, both needing a change to move forward.

Bree Rhodes is trying to live her life to the fullest after a cancer scare makes her rethink everything. Her journey is to start taking chances and stepping out of the comfort zone she's always lived in.

Jill Kelly is taking one day at a time after suffering a tremendous loss, but she doesn't let anyone close to her and is harboring a secret.

I feel like I have several aspects in common with both Bree and Jill, so this story hit very close to home for me and will be one I hold very near to my heart.

A beautiful story of friendship, adventure and discovering genuine happiness begins with loving yourself! This was such a wonderful emotional journey and I'll definitely revisit it again soon.

 💧 Drama

The Secret One by Ruth Cardello (Corisi Billionaires #3)

💙💙💙💙

This is the 3rd installment in the series, if you haven't read the first two, STOP now and go read them!

Each book in the Corisi Billionaires series has lead to what unfolds in this story. Full of unending secrets, lies and romance -- you can't help but be swept away into the drama as you watch it all unravel.

I loved the chemistry between Christof and McKenna from the start, even though they had a rocky beginning. The story line was a little choppy at times, how it goes between more than just the two main character POV's, but hang in there, it's worth the wait.

 💧 Drama

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

When Christof meets a beautiful mechanic on the side of the road, he knows they're meant to be. His family, however, needs him and his mediation skills in Italy, where decades of secrets and betrayal could cost them everything. His mother is convinced a fiancée would help smooth things over. But he'd be nuts to ask a woman he just met to participate in such a farce.

Men always find something about McKenna they want to change -- her independence, her success, the grease that clings to her after a satisfying day in the garage. So when she starts falling for a handsome billionaire, she doesn't believe it will last. Their engagement is fake, but the sparks that fly when they're together are too real to resist.

If Christof and McKenna trust themselves and each other, Italy will jump-start a love as intimate as it is intense. If not...their relationship isn't the only one on the line.

Dare to Play by Carly Phillips (Dare Nation #3)

⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾

This was a home run in my book! Dare to Play will capture your heart and steal it for the duration of the story.

Carly Phillips has a way of drawing you into a story with plenty of laughter, steamy romance and witty banter - but it's those deeper moments that surprise you, that's what I always enjoy most.

Jaxon Prescott is a player, but throughout this story, he will win you over and become the book boyfriend of your dreams! Everything he does will make you sigh, the man can do no wrong after he meets Macy.

Macy Walker, heaven help her, has everything on her plate at once, and the last thing she needs is a complicated love life. Trying to raise her half-sister (who's a typical teen tyrant in mourning) is no easy task, especially when the wicked witch of a mother comes back into their lives.

I couldn't put this book down until the end, as I needed closure on all fronts. This is by far my favorite book by Carly Phillips and I'm enjoying the Dare Nation series immensely! Do yourself a favor and read this asap, as it can be read as a stand alone. You won't regret a moment!

Only One Kiss by Natasha Madison (Only One #1)

🏒🏒🏒🏒🏒

A sports romance that will own your heart! Only One Kiss has sports, a single dad, and a hard-working woman determined to never date a client...what could possibly go wrong?

As with every sports romance from Natasha Madison, I was an emotional wreck, but loved every moment of this story. From the characters to the drama, I was sucked in from the first page. Give me a single dad any day, especially one with an adorable little girl, and I'm a goner!

The emotional baggage that Ralph needs to overcome in order to find happiness, whether with someone else or alone as a single dad, will break your heart (don't worry, it'll get put back together.)

My heart wasn't ready for the depth of this story and I can still feel phantom chest pains from the experience, but it was worth it. If this just the start of a new series, I can't wait to see what comes next!

The Friendship List by Susan Mallery

💙💙💙💙💙

This story will inspire you! The Friendship List is a captivating story of two people that choose to start living their lives again after love and loss.

This book put all of my emotions through the ringer, between tears of sorrow and laughter, my heart is inspired by these stories.

Unity on the other hand...her story is so heart-breaking -- being a widow at such a young age, never believing she can achieve any of her life goals now that she's alone...I was torn between wanting to hug her or shake some life back into her.

What the Heart Wants by Audrey Carlan (Wish #1)

❤❤❤❤

A beautifully woven tale of love and discovery! What the Heart Wants broke my heart, multiple times, but with any Audrey Carlan story, I had faith in the journey. She's truly the only author that make me shed cathartic tears and come back for more.

Suda Kaye and Evie are left with letters from their mother after she passes away. Not wanting to have regrets in life, Suda Kaye follows her Mom's advice to Fly Free and leaves behind the only man she's ever truly loved.

I literally felt pain in my chest for Cam. The fact that he's always wondered if he did something wrong to make her leave so suddenly, or if he somehow hurt her the night they shared something special. He will forever have my heart!

It showed more courage and strength for Suda Kaye to come home and face those she hurt when she disappeared. Although most everyone welcomed her back with open arms, there are a few people that still kept their distance, afraid she'll leave again.

This has been my favorite book of 2020 and I've read it twice within the last week. Such a poignant and emotional story that will inspire you to not take a second for granted, love with all your heart and follow your dreams. I can't wait for Evie's story next!

 💧 Drama
💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

"Fly free."

For ten years those words, written on pink parchment paper in her mother's beautiful handwriting, have been Suda Kaye Ross's guiding star. Every year on her birthday, Suda Kaye opens another of the letters her mother penned before she passed, heeding the advice inside as she fills her life with experiences. From Italy to Australia, from Rio to Russia, she's slaked her wanderlust. And then, on her twenty-eighth birthday, she opens the letter that sends her home.

Returning to Colorado means confronting everything -- and everyone -- she left behind, including her cherished sister, Evie, and her first love, Camden Bryant. Suda Kaye and Cam spent four years and one unforgettable night together. Given the way she ran out on him, it's no surprise that he's wary, resentful...and engaged to someone else. Evie, hardworking and uberresponsible, just wants her sister to put down roots at last.

For Evie's sake, and her own, Suda Kaye is trying to build a new life, all the while wondering whether it's too late to come back home -- or if the most important part of her never really left.

Grant's Heat by Angel Payne & Victoria Blue (Shark's Edge #4)

❤❤❤❤❤

Grant's Heat will take you on a ride you're not prepared for! One of my favorite author pairings is Angel Payne & Victoria Blue: together they make you feel as though you're having a heart attack, only to be revived and put through the ringer again. As emotionally prepared as I think I am for each of their books...there's nothing you can do, just hold on and enjoy the ride!

Grant is still his swoon-worthy, dominant self that we've all fallen in love with in this series. Watching him pine over a woman he can't have, makes me love him even more. Always there if you need him, but not willing to cross any boundaries or disrespect relationships.

Rio is a whirlwind and you never know what to expect from her, so I felt like each chapter kept me on my toes and threw me for a new loop with each page. Her torment and loss hurt my heart, making me feel like a jackass for being a little glad certain events happened.

While this is definitely a romantic drama, it still has that flair of suspense, keeping you guessing what's going to be thrown at you next. I absolutely love this series and devour each book the second it's available. I can't wait for the next one, but I might need to refill my inhaler first, lol!

 💧 Drama
💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

Grant Twombley has it all -- a successful career, a contacts list full of gorgeous and willing bedmates, and the ear of Los Angeles's most prominent captain of industry.

But being Sebastian Shark's right-hand man isn't without its challenges. Messy ones. Unknown forces still work to take down Shark Enterprises, and Grant's full focus is needed to protect their empire. But he's sitting on a scandalous secret. A truth he can't even share with his best friend. Until disaster strikes.

Rio Gibson carries dark secrets of her own. She hides them well...until her world is shattered. She holds Shark responsible, but the only person she shares her suspicions with is also the man closest to him -- the giving, gorgeous man who makes her feel so many new and surprising things. Dangerous things.

But Rio's used to handling the heat in the kitchen, and she can handle this challenge too. Getting out simply isn't an option -- no matter how bad it'll burn in the end.
