Forbidden by Karla Sorensen

πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

This one is a knock out! Forbidden knocked me off my axis and I'm not ashamed to admit I even ugly cried during this one.

Isabel is a character after my own heart! I loved her sassy confidence, but how she's incredibly shy around Aiden is endearing, especially when it leads to fiascos.

The real scene stealer for me was Anya, Aiden's adorable daughter, who knows what her heart wants and isn't afraid to ask for it. She's incredibly spunky and daring, but sweet and tender too.

The beginning of this story absolutely wrecked me, but I knew it'd be worth it by the end of the book, and it was. Aiden is the grumpy widower that I wish was in my neck of the woods.

πŸ’‹ Romance

SUMMARY:

No man has ever rattled Isabel Ward. Until Aiden Hennessy walks in the door of her gym -- ownership papers in hand.

The former fighter is a lot of things -- a single dad, a widower trying to start over, and a watchful presence that knocks her off her very capable feet.

To make matters worse, Isabel had a crush on him for the entirety of her teenage years. Doodles in her diaries and letters declaring her admiration -- while never sent -- haunt the absolute crap out of her now that she has to face him every day.

No woman has ever tempted Aiden to move on from the memory of his wife -- until Isabel. She's too young, too fiery, too much of everything he should avoid.

But avoiding is impossible, just like pretending the blistering chemistry between them doesn't exist.

Now that the unshakeable woman is shaken and the untemptable man is tempted, Isabel and Aiden have to decide what they're willing to risk for a taste of the forbidden.

Off the Record by Kristen Proby (With Me in Seattle Mafia #3)

πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

A genuine second chance romance! Off the Record is a romance once forbidden in the mafia world, but given a chance to rekindle under dire circumstances.

Annika walked away from her first love, only to marry a man who would end up being her worst nightmare, making her believe she's unworthy of love. Disclaimer: If Annika's husband wasn't already dead, I would've gladly killed him myself

When she starts receiving blackmail, and rival clans are being murdered, the families must come together to figure out who's behind the threats.

Rafe has never stopped loving Annika, so when she's in danger and thrust back into his life, he's determined to never let her go.

This book had my heart in my throat, and the audiobook brought it to life perfectly. I've enjoyed this spin-off series so much and I can't wait to binge-read the entire With Me in Seattle series again!

πŸ’‹ Romance

SUMMARY:

From New York Times Bestselling Author Kristen Proby comes the thrilling conclusion to her With Me in Seattle Mafia series...

Rafe "Rocco" Martinelli was never one for the family business. Alas, being born into a crime syndicate means doing the family's bidding and making sure you're connected -- and, yes, breaking a few kneecaps. Rafe would love nothing more than to hang up his enforcer apron and live a quiet life, but as more and more higher-ups in rival clans turn up dead, Rafe realizes he doesn't have a choice. Especially not when the captivating and gorgeous bratva princess needs his help.

Dr. Annika Tarenkov learned early on that her life belongs to her family. She's a pawn in the long game, a bargaining chip for power and prestige. She gave up the only person in her life she thought she could be happy with, all for the greater good of the family. Now, a newly made widow and desperately seeking answers, she's forced to confront her past as it converges with her present. But all it does is make her wonder about her future and how she can make Rafe hers again. While being with him is like wrangling a toddler at times, he still makes her heart race and her breath catch. And she wouldn't feel safer with anyone else.

With the chips seemingly stacked against them, they must work to uncover the perpetrators of the nefarious plot that's been brewing for some time -- before it's too late.

Decidedly with Luck by Stina Lindenblatt (By the Bay #6)

🍼🍼🍼🍼🍼

A beautifully woven fairy tale! Decidedly with Luck has one twist after another that will keep you on your toes until the last page.

Keira is hoping to move on from losing her husband, but after she's left with the consequences from her unknown one-night stand, the lies start spiraling out of control.

Logan has always harbored feelings for Keira, without her knowledge, so he can't pass up the opportunity to have one magical night with her, even if he has to keep his own identity a secret from her.

When their lives intertwine, Keira and Logan both fight their growing feelings, and avoid revealing the truth for as long as they can, which only makes the tangled webs of deception even more complicated.

I enjoyed being able to see this story from both POV's, and it was hard at times not to yell through the screen of my Kindle, but I truly enjoyed their journey. A great addition to the By the Bay series!

πŸ’‹ Romance

SUMMARY:

Masquerade ball rule #1: what happens at the ball doesn't always stay at the ball.

Oops.

A chance encounter with a masked stranger at a charity ball led to an incredible kiss and a night of hot sex. The kiss was my goal for that night, a baby step forward after my husband's death a year ago. The hot sex? Not so much.

You know what else hadn't been my goal?

To be knocked up by a man whose identity is a mystery to me.

So now I'm preparing for my impending motherhood and planning a fundraiser to provide books for foster kids.

The latter is where hot hockey player Logan Mathews comes in...

****

The last time I saw Kiera Ashdown was the night of the Jingle Balls masquerade ball. She'd wanted her first time with a man after her husband's death to be with a stranger.

After my NHL team trades me to San Francisco, where my daughter and ex-wife live, I'm determined to be a better father and not repeat past mistakes. My hockey career and my daughter come first.

The last thing I expect to discover is that Kiera is my seven-year-old daughter's teacher. The last thing I expect to learn is that she's pregnant with my dead best friend's child.

And the last thing I want to admit is that I was the one who made love to Kiera--several times--the night of the ball.

Because if she ever found out that I'd lied to her, I could lose her friendship. I could lose so much more.

The Friendship List by Susan Mallery

πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

This story will inspire you! The Friendship List is a captivating story of two people that choose to start living their lives again after love and loss.

This book put all of my emotions through the ringer, between tears of sorrow and laughter, my heart is inspired by these stories.

Ellen has basically put her entire life on hold to raise her son since she was a teenager, and she's determined to show him that she can have a life of her own if he goes away to college.

Unity on the other hand...her story is so heart-breaking -- being a widow at such a young age, never believing she can achieve any of her life goals now that she's alone...I was torn between wanting to hug her or shake some life back into her.

This is a book that will inspire you to take chances, pursue your dreams, and live your life to the fullest. For that, I will be forever grateful to Susan Mallery.

πŸ’‹ Romance

So Unity Leandre, her best friend since forever, creates a list of challenges to push Ellen out of her comfort zone. Unity will complete the list, too, but not because she needs to change. What's wrong with a thirtysomething widow still sleeping in her late husband's childhood bed?

The Friendship List begins as a way to make others believe their just fine. But somewhere between "wear three-inch heels" and "have sex with a gorgeous guy," Ellen and Unity discover that life is meant to be lived with joy and abandon, in a story filled with humor, heartache and regrettable tattoos.

Man Find by Krista Sandor (Bergen Brothers #3)

πŸ›ΆπŸ›ΆπŸ›ΆπŸ›ΆπŸ›Ά

Man Find had me holding my breath, while yelling the next minute! I love the Bergen Brothers, and if I thought for a second they were based on real people, I'd be moving to Colorado immediately.

Camden follows in the steps of his two brothers, blaming himself for their parents death. He's removed himself from his family for years and finally comes back home to find his mystery "Daisy", the one person who makes him feel like a human again.

Cadence lost her husband young and is left to raise their son Bodhi (this kid is the true hero of the book!) She finds a connection with "Mac" online, but knows nothing can really ever come of it.

The story pulls in the people they've both lost, to help the reader feel as though their meeting is orchestrated from above. I loved how they're tied in throughout the story, and never forgotten.

Cadence and Camden have a chemistry that's off the charts, and I will never be able to say I'm "doing laundry", with a straight face again. A beautiful tale of finding love after tremendous loss, and not giving up on your dreams.

I'm sad the Bergen Brothers stories have come to an end, but will definitely revisit this world again and again. While Man Find can be read as a stand alone, the characters you'll fall in love with in the previous books, will have a much deeper impact if you read them in order.

 πŸ’§ Drama
πŸ’‹ Romance

Cadence Lowry doesn't have time for distractions. Between teaching full time, raising her young son, and renovating two historic homes, her only escape is corresponding with her chat forum friend, Mountain Mac.

It's only for the summer, but things don't stay neighborly for long.

That Second Chance by Meghan Quinn (Getting Lucky #1)

πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

You can't read this book and NOT fall in love with the entire Knightly family, as well as Port Snow. I'd give it 6 stars if I could! I love how everyone has an established role in the community and just seem to constantly pop up out of nowhere. This was definitely one I found myself laughing out loud at work while listening to the story.

My heart broke for the tragedy that Griffin suffers, but his struggle to keep his heart safe was understandable. He does everything for everyone else, but doesn't want to risk the curse being true, causing another death.

Griffins family just wants to see him happy again, curse be damned. The brothers are hysterical and such lovable characters, you want to take them out of the book and welcome them into your own family!

Ren Winters is a breath of fresh air! I love the witty banter between her and the brothers. Their chemistry is definitely one for the books, and you'll find yourself rooting for Griffin to let go of his fears, because Ren is perfect for him!

I adore Meghan Quinn and she has the incredible ability to make me ugly-snort while reading, unfortunately it's usually in a public place, lol. This is the first in a new series and I can hardly wait for more!!!
