False Start by Casey Hagen (Beautifully Brutal #1)

💛💛💛💛💛

Rollin' in with a new series like a boss! False Start makes my roller derby loving heart SO happy. It has the perfect mix of derby action, romance, humor, and drama.

Cain "Priest" Bishop is only back in town to help his pregnant sister out until her husband can come home. With spiteful gossip and having to face past mistakes, Cain can't leave town soon enough - until he meets Maisy.

Maisy "Mayhem" Flynn is tough as nails, but when it comes to her roller derby team, she'll do anything to help them succeed, even if it means recruiting help from someone with a sketchy past.

This sports romance was everything I was hoping it'd be and more. I loved the unending witty banter between Cain and Maisy, the family dynamic with his sister will win you over immediately, and the derby action made me feel like I was at a live bout. A slow burn that will have you cheering, counting down until Hip Whip releases!

Dare to Play by Carly Phillips (Dare Nation #3)

⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾

This was a home run in my book! Dare to Play will capture your heart and steal it for the duration of the story.

Carly Phillips has a way of drawing you into a story with plenty of laughter, steamy romance and witty banter - but it's those deeper moments that surprise you, that's what I always enjoy most.

Jaxon Prescott is a player, but throughout this story, he will win you over and become the book boyfriend of your dreams! Everything he does will make you sigh, the man can do no wrong after he meets Macy.

Macy Walker, heaven help her, has everything on her plate at once, and the last thing she needs is a complicated love life. Trying to raise her half-sister (who's a typical teen tyrant in mourning) is no easy task, especially when the wicked witch of a mother comes back into their lives.

I couldn't put this book down until the end, as I needed closure on all fronts. This is by far my favorite book by Carly Phillips and I'm enjoying the Dare Nation series immensely! Do yourself a favor and read this asap, as it can be read as a stand alone. You won't regret a moment!

Making You Mine by Melissa Foster (The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls #5)

💙💙💙💙

Making You Mine will have you falling in love with love! There's no way to fight the chemistry in this book, so sit back and enjoy the pages.

When Knox Bentley finds himself falling for the one woman in his life that doesn't do relationships, he has his work cut out for him, in order to change her mind.

Aubrey Stewart just wants to make a name for herself in the world and doesn't have time for distractions (aka: Knox Bentley), so when their casual understanding starts to feel like more, she's in for a wild ride.

Knox and Aubrey are two equally stubborn characters, which makes for a fantastic romance. I loved getting to watch as they truly get to know one another, outside of the bedroom, although don't get me wrong, there's plenty of steamy scenes behind closed doors!

Knox's family was the highlight of the book for me, and I enjoyed the character growth as well. A wonderful addition to the series, and I can't wait for the next book to come out!

Summary:

Knox Bentley never liked the pomp and circumstance that came with being wealthy. He'd distanced himself from his pretentious family and their fortune as a young adult and found his own path to success.

But even with the world at his fingertips, he realizes something is missing, and after a long stay overseas, he finally knows exactly what it is. His no-strings-attached hookups with Aubrey Stewart, an exquisite and stubbornly independent blonde, are no longer enough for him.

They connect on every level, but Aubrey is a fierce businesswoman with a new movie channel on the horizon and no time for much else. She is the deal he can't close, the precious jewel even his billions can't buy. Now that he's back in the States, he's determined to show her that what they have goes beyond the bedroom and finally make her his.

Risky Play by Rachel Van Dyken (Red Card #1)

🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

Rachel Van Dyken does a marvelous job of making you fall in love with the characters, then in the next second, wanting to wring their necks while they redeem themselves in your heart.

The story starts off with Mackenzie Dupont being left at the altar. She's saved herself for her husband, who's been her best friend since birth, but there's no real sparks or love. When she goes on her honeymoon six months later, she has a brush with death and decides to finally start living her life - including a one-night stand with a handsome stranger.

Slade Rodriguez can't resist Mackenzie and wants more than one night with her, but when his life is turned on it's axis, he blames the easiest scapegoat, Mack.

Through a series of events, Mack ends up being Slade's assistant, and watching him be a tyrant to her is heart-wrenching, but not dragged out (which I appreciated).

Groveling and witty banter are at the core of this story, while it's spun with back stories and twists you won't see coming. I'm enamored with the characters and can't wait for the next book in the Red Card series!

I started Risky Play at bedtime, thinking I'd read a chapter or two...instead, I stayed up until almost 3am to finish it in one sitting! Definitely one of my favorite reads of 2019 so far!
