Back in the Burbs by Tracy Wolff, Avery Flynn (The Burbs #1)

🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

If you need a good escape from reality, this is it! Back in the Burbs was everything I was hoping for from this dynamic pair of writers, and more!!!

Nick is one of those broody characters that you love to hate, the kind that always follow the rules and sticks to a daily routine that doesn't involve having a social life.

Mallory has suffered one loss after another and is tired of people making decisions for her and being told what she should do. This is the fresh start she needs and she'll do everything in her power to make it a reality.

I adore all of Avery Flynn's books, so I knew I would be all-in with this one, but from the first to last page I was a goner. So many shenanigans with the HOA and surrounding busy-bodies, you're guaranteed to get a good ab workout from laughter.

With plenty of witty banter, tender moments of realization and an underlying romance with the enemy, this has been quite the delightful escape from the norm. Put this on your must-read list for 2021!

SUMMARY:

Ever have one of those days where life just plain sucks? Welcome to my last three months -- ever since I caught my can't-be-soon-enough ex-husband cheating with his paralegal. I'm thirty-five years old, and I've lost my NYC apartment, my job, my money, and frankly, my dignity.

But the final heartache in the suck sandwich of my life? My great-aunt Maggie died. The only family member who's ever gotten me.

Ever after death, though, she's helping me get back up. She's willed me the keys to a house in the burbs, of all places, and dared me to grab life by the family jewels. Well, I've got the vise grips already in hand (my ex should take note) and I'm ready to fight for my life again.

Too bad that bravado only lasts as long as it takes to drive into Huckleberry Hills. And see the house.

There are forty-seven separate HOA violations, and I feel them all in my bones. Honestly, I'm surprised no one's "accidentally" torched the house yet. I want to, and I've only been standing in front of it for five minutes. But then my hot, grumpy neighbor tells me to mow the lawn first and I'm just...done. Done with men too sexy for their own good and done with anyone telling me what to do ever again.

First rule of surviving the burbs? There is nothing that YouTube and a glass of wine can't conquer.

Royal Bastard by Avery Flynn (Instantly Royal #1)

👑👑👑👑👑

A RomCom with laughter and heart! Royal Bastard is the perfect read to brighten up your day and make you smile.

I feel like the girl is always "the American" in these types of stories, so this was a pleasant surprise to have the guy in that role. Nick is determined to teach his Grandfather a lesson for ruining his life and breaking his Mom's heart.

Brooke is the girl that just wants to make everyone proud, even if that comes at her own expense. She's determined to save the town that had her back when she needed them most, even if she has to deal with some stubborn, lazy American boy.

In true Avery Flynn fashion, this book will keep you entertained from start to finish! I love stories where people underestimate the underdog and it only makes them fight to surprise you. Nick is my new book boyfriend and I'll fight anyone who says differently!

SUMMARY:

Efficient, level-headed, and always focused, Brooke Chapman-Powell takes her position as the Earl of Englefield's personal secretary very seriously. So when the Earl asks her to teach his in-all-likelihood-uncouth-and-rather-forward American bastard grandson how to be a proper earl, Brooke is determined to do whatever it takes to make a go of it.

Nick Vane has about two gazillion things that land higher on his to-do list than becoming an English earl. Things like naps. Hosting poker nights. Oh, and raking in the profits from his latest invention. Accepting the title his grandfather had denied him since birth because the old man was on his way out without an heir? Didn't. Even. Register.

But Miss Prim and Proper just won't give up, and before he knows what's what, he's on a plane to England. Well, what's an American to do when a sexy, uptight Brit insists he learn manners? He'll teach his grandfather and her a lesson...

Awk-Weird by Avery Flynn (Ice Knights #2)

🏒🏒🏒🏒🏒

Awk-Weird is another goal shot for Avery Flynn! This one will have you laughing from the first chapter, and I highly suggest being careful what you eat or drink while reading.

The title perfectly describes the story and Tess is one of the funniest characters I've read. Her random facts are both entertaining and educational, all while being bestowed at the most-inappropriate times.

Cole is a lovable character, even if he does want to kill his teammates for creating the chaos his life becomes. He's a stand-up guy with a big heart.

I've loved both books in the Ice Knights series, but this one is my favorite. I smile every time I see the cover, just remembering how much I laughed and even cried a little. This is a one-click for anyone that loves romantic comedies!

Summary:
There's more to me than just being awk-weird. I own my own flower shop, have some great friends, and I have my eye on adopting the most adorable kitten. But sadly, hot guys don't tend to be blown away by my trivia-spouting, dorky self.

So when a Thor-lookalike who happens to be a professional hockey player hits on me at my bestie's wedding rehearsal party... You better believe I climbed that tree like a cat. And the fact that it happened not one, not twice, but three times? Yeah, that's pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a woman like me.

There's zero chance I'll end up ever seeing him again...right?

Until the pregnancy test comes up positive. What happens next?

Oh my God, I wish I knew...
