A Brush with Love by Mazey Eddings

🦷🦷🦷🦷🦷

My favorite book of 2022! I'm honestly still in shock this is the DEBUT release from Mazey Eddings, and can't wait to see what else she has in store for readers in the future.

As someone with severe dental anxiety, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book, but it has everything I love and a few points that hit close to home for me, so I easily devoured the audiobook in one sitting.

With multiple POV's, you get to see the story unfold from both Dan and Harper, which is even more entertaining since they each have their very own opinionated views on dentistry and falling in love (distractions.)

From start to finish, I wasn't able to stop listening to this beautifully written tale, and one of the best parts was the friends who go to endless lengths to try and bring them together. Just their shenanigans alone are worth reading this book for, along with:

**Anxiety Rep
**Cinnamon Roll Hero
**Debut Author
**Dental Students
**Meddling Friends
**Slow Burn

SUMMARY:

Harper is anxiously awaiting placement into a top oral surgery residency program when she crashes (literally) into Dan. Harper would rather endure a Novocaine-free root canal than face any distractions, even one this adorable.

A first-year dental student with a family legacy to contend with, Dan doesn't have the same passion for pulling teeth that Harper does. Though he finds himself falling for her, he is willing to play by Harper's rules.

So with the greatest of intentions and the poorest of follow-throughs, the two set out to be "just friends." But as they get to know each other better, Harper fears that trading fillings for feelings may make her lose control and can't risk her carefully ordered life coming undone, no matter how drool-worthy Dan is.

Blood, gore and extra-long roots? No problem. The idea of falling in love? Torture.

Fake Husband for Christmas by Susan Hatler (Christmas Mountain #9)

💙💙💙💙💙

The perfect blend of romance and holiday magic! A wonderful RomCom filled with snowball fights, cookies, and dressing up as Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

Cal Bradley is definitely the scene-stealer of this story, with his witty charm, clever nicknames, and unfailing devotion to make sure every child has their Christmas wish fulfilled.

Macy Wilcox is completely flustered when she's paired up with Cal to play the holiday Claus couple, with his perpetual tardiness and always showing up at the most random places.

These two were such a delight to watch interact and grow. I found myself smiling so much that my cheeks hurt the next day. This is a must read for anyone looking for a clean romance with a whimsical holiday spirit!

SUMMARY:

When Macy Wilcox agrees to play Mrs. Claus for the children of Christmas Mountain this holiday season, she has a firm idea of what her Mr. Claus should be like: ambitious (how could he not be with a whole world to cover in one night?), logistically-minded, and good at organized list keeping. But when Cal Bradley turns up as Santa, he's the opposite of what she expects.

First, he's late. Second, he comes from straight off the mountain so his fake beard looks windswept and he's wearing ski boots instead of highly polished black boots with gold buckles. And third, Santa is not supposed to have abs like that.

There's trouble at the North Pole from the very start as Macy, the realistic, down-to-earth business owner, and Cal, the eternal optimist and fun-loving kids' ski instructor, disagree on everything from the Naughty and Nice list to the ingredients for the sugar cookies.

Every time Cal promises to deliver a child an extravagant gift, Macy tries to step in and keep things realistic. And every time Macy tries to lower expectations, Cal raises them even higher. Macy believes Cal can't come through on these promises. But the more he spreads his holiday magic, the more she wants to believe in his promises. With a little Christmas magic, Cal might be able to show Macy that the most unpractical, ridiculous, eternally optimistic gift of all is love.

The Dating Playbook by Farrah Rochon (The Boyfriend Project #2)

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

Loved it with my whole heart! This was the perfect fake dating story between an NFL star and a personal trainer. If you're looking for a great romcom to end your summer, this is the one you want.

Taylor has debt coming out of her ears, so when Jamal offers her an insane amount of money and the opportunity to get her business off the ground, in order to get him back into shape, she can't say no.

Taylor is such a fierce and lovable character that a lot of us can relate to. I also enjoyed the flirty banter between the two, and felt the story had the perfect blend of humor, romance and realism. These two are one of my new favorite couples, and I can't wait for more in this series!

I was lucky enough to listen to the audiobook thanks to an advanced copy from Hachette Audio, and it brings the characters to life perfectly.

SUMMARY:

When a personal trainer agrees to fake date her client, all rules are out the window in this delightful romantic comedy from the USA Today bestselling author of The Boyfriend Project!

When it comes to personal training, Taylor Powell kicks serious butt. Unfortunately, her bills are piling up, rent is due, and the money situation is dire. Taylor needs more than the support of her new best friends, Samiah and London. She needs a miracle.

And Jamar Dixon might just be it. The oh-so-fine former footballer wants back into the NFL, and he wants Taylor to train him. There's just one catch -- no one can know what they're doing. But when they're accidentally outed as a couple, Taylor's game plan is turned completely upside down. Is Jamar just playing to win...or is he playing for keeps?

Waiting for Tom Hanks by Kerry Winfrey

💛💛💛💛

I want to binge-watch rom-coms now! Waiting for Tom Hanks was a pleasant surprise for my rom-com loving soul. This is the second time reading this and I loved it even more with the audiobook bringing the characters to life.

This feel-good story will remind you of all the amazing reasons why you love films like "You've Got Mail", "Two Weeks Notice", etc. There were so many points that I related with Annie, especially our mutual love for all things Nora Ephron.

If you're looking for a great summer vacation read, I'd highly recommend packing this one in your suitcase! Such a delightful look at not only the movie business, but how relationships are viewed from someone who truly believes in happily ever afters and meet-cute's.

😄 Comedy

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

Can a romcom-obsessed romantic finally experience the meet-cute she always dreamed of or will reality never compare to fiction, in this charming debut novel from Kerry Winfrey.

Annie Cassidy dreams of being the next Nora Ephron. She spends her days writing screenplays, rewatching Sleepless in Seattle, and waiting for her movie-perfect meet-cute. If she could just find her own Tom Hanks -- a man who's sweet, sensitive, and possibly owns a houseboat -- her problems would disappear and her life would be perfect. But Tom Hanks is nowhere in sight.

When a movie starts filming in her neighborhood and Annie gets a job on set, it seems like a sign. Then Annie meets the lead actor, Drew Danforth, a cocky prankster who couldn't be less like Tom Hanks if he tried. Their meet-cute is more of a meet-fail, but soon Annie finds herself sharing some classic rom-com moments with Drew. Her Tom Hanks can't be an actor who's leaving town in a matter of days...can he?

Friends With Benedicts by Staci Hart

☕☕☕☕

A delightful second chance romance! Friends With Benedicts brings us Presley's story, which if you're like me, you fell for this single mom with an adorable little girl in Bet The Farm, and have been curious ever since.

I love a good small-town romance, and this definitely delivered with plenty of humor, a catty ex, and a town full of lovable characters. You'll be so drawn in to the story that it'll be over before you know it, leaving you craving breakfast foods.

Two people who've always wanted more, but were thankful for the summers they had with each other. They both have the chance to pursue their dreams, but at the cost of a future together. This was a light-hearted and feel-good romcom that'll make you smile!

SUMMARY:

Timing is everything.

Presley Hale and Sebastian Vargas are no strangers to goodbye. Their high school summers were spent wrapped up in each other until she would inevitably go home to California. One season after college, Sebastian finally escaped the little Texas town to travel the world, and they said goodbye for what they thought might be the last time.
Sebastian went one way. Presley went the other.

For the first time in five years, they're both in town, but the timing is no better than ever. So the only thing to do is what they do best. Keep it casual.

Friends with benefits.

They've done it before -- doing it again will be easy.

But their hearts don't get the memo.

When the lines of their arrangement blur, Presley and Sebastian are faced with decisions they've avoided for years. And that's not even their biggest problem.
A small town in danger of failing.

A secret that could tear them apart.

And two hearts that can't hide anymore.

They've shared so many summers, but none compare to what they'll face.

Timing is everything.
And their time is almost up.

Much Ado About You by Samantha Young

🦴🦴🦴🦴🦴

Fans of The Holiday will adore this book! Much Ado About You is definitely one I'll be adding to my yearly re-read list. Full of humor, romance, friendship and dreams - you'll be recommending this to anyone who will listen.

Evie Starling wants an escape from her life, after a fiasco at work and another failed attempt at dating, she wants to figure out a life plan. She offers to take over running an english bookstore for a month, not knowing how it will change not only her life, but many others.

I was sold on this book the second Evie risked her life for an animal, but add in a delightfully charming farmer with an accent, and I'm a goner. This story was like going on a vacation with your best friends, just wanting them all to find happiness and learning how to follow your own dreams as well. A feel-good romcom that will leave you with a smile for days!

😄 Comedy

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

The cozy comforts of an English village bookstore open up a world of new possibilities for Evie Starling in this charming new romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Samantha Young.

At thirty-three-years old Evangeline Starling's life in Chicago is missing that special something. And when she's passed over for a promotion at work, Evie realizes she needs to make a change. Some time away to regain perspective might be just the thing. In a burst of impulsivity, she plans a holiday in a quaint English village. My Vegas Groom by Piper Rayne (The Greene Family #3)

💛💛💛💛💛

TKO - this was a winner in my book! My Vegas Groom is the perfect read to get you in the mood for summer or that getaway with the girls.

Nikki Greene has her own goals and makes a living from telling the truth, so when she has to lie to the entire town and her family about her sham of a marriage, it might just be the one thing that can break her.

Logan Stone is a man after my own heart! He knows there's something between him and Nikki, so he's not about to let her go without a fight.

Logan is definitely a contender for book boyfriend of the year! I enjoyed this book so much, especially with the minimal drama, which created a pleasant, yet hilarious visit with the Greene Family we've all come to know and love.

I think the reason that Logan and Nikki are such amazing, trustworthy people is because they've surrounded themselves with a great support system of friends and family (except those who shall not be named!)

😄 Comedy

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

Waking up next to a stranger wearing a wedding ring was not on the itinerary.

I came to Las Vegas for a quick girl's trip, but somehow ended up a married woman. What I thought would stay in Vegas followed me back to my small town of Sunrise Bay, Alaska.

Of course, my new husband -- MMA champion fighter, Logan Stone -- couldn't find me alone at my house to tell me he wants to give our impromptu nuptials a shot. He has to tell me in front of my entire family and half the town.

The two of us couldn't be more opposite, but he offers me a deal I can't refuse which involves me pretending we're happily married for three months. Yeah, a lot of things can change in that short amount of time, most importantly catching feelings for a man whose lifestyle I despise.

Back in the Burbs by Tracy Wolff, Avery Flynn (The Burbs #1)

🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

If you need a good escape from reality, this is it! Back in the Burbs was everything I was hoping for from this dynamic pair of writers, and more!!!

Nick is one of those broody characters that you love to hate, the kind that always follow the rules and sticks to a daily routine that doesn't involve having a social life.

Mallory has suffered one loss after another and is tired of people making decisions for her and being told what she should do. This is the fresh start she needs and she'll do everything in her power to make it a reality.

I adore all of Avery Flynn's books, so I knew I would be all-in with this one, but from the first to last page I was a goner. So many shenanigans with the HOA and surrounding busy-bodies, you're guaranteed to get a good ab workout from laughter.

With plenty of witty banter, tender moments of realization and an underlying romance with the enemy, this has been quite the delightful escape from the norm. Put this on your must-read list for 2021!

😄 Comedy

 💧 Drama

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

Ever have one of those days where life just plain sucks? Welcome to my last three months -- ever since I caught my can't-be-soon-enough ex-husband cheating with his paralegal. I'm thirty-five years old, and I've lost my NYC apartment, my job, my money, and frankly, my dignity.

But the final heartache in the suck sandwich of my life? My great-aunt Maggie died. The only family member who's ever gotten me.

Ever after death, though, she's helping me get back up. She's willed me the keys to a house in the burbs, of all places, and dared me to grab life by the family jewels. Well, I've got the vise grips already in hand (my ex should take note) and I'm ready to fight for my life again.

Too bad that bravado only lasts as long as it takes to drive into Huckleberry Hills. And see the house.

There are forty-seven separate HOA violations, and I feel them all in my bones. Honestly, I'm surprised no one's "accidentally" torched the house yet. I want to, and I've only been standing in front of it for five minutes. But then my hot, grumpy neighbor tells me to mow the lawn first and I'm just...done. Done with men too sexy for their own good and done with anyone telling me what to do ever again.

First rule of surviving the burbs? There is nothing that YouTube and a glass of wine can't conquer.

Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour by Erin Nicholas (Boys of the Bayou #6)

🐊🐊🐊🐊🐊

The Landry clan does it again! Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour is a fast-paced RomCom that will have you laughing until you cry, then probably adopting a rescue animal soon after.

All of the previous stories/characters are briefly touched upon, so you'll feel right at home with the whole family. As each of their lives intertwine, they must come together to find a solution, and at the heart of it all is newcomer Paige.

This yoga-teaching, cat-loving, proposal-phobic woman just wants to belong somewhere, but she gets more than she bargained for with Mitch.

Between his own growing feelings, and the well-meaning interferences from his family, Paige finds herself torn between being independent and falling for all Landry's.

I love the Boys of the Bayou and this tied everyone's stories together beautifully. Paige will always have a special place in my heart for her love of cats. I can't get enough of this family and I find myself coming back often to binge-read the series.

😄 Comedy

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

She's been proposed to five times.

Five.

She even said yes to one of them.

And then broke his heart when she called it off. Not to mention her mother's heart. And her grandmother's. And his mother's. And...you get the picture.

Paige Asher has now officially sworn off all dating. Diamonds give her hives.

All she wants is to be a yoga-doing, cat-collecting, vegetarian in peace. Away from her marriage-crazy family and all their expectations.

So when her weekend fling turns into a real friend and offers her a place to escape, she finds herself on his doorstep in Louisiana. And right in the middle of not just one family wedding, but three. Of course.

Charming, sexy bayou boy Mitch Landry gets stuff done. Whatever anyone needs. From alligator-sitting to getting a buddy drunk to showing a woman a good time to fixing a swamp boat, he's the man. No problem. No drama.

But he wants a hell of a lot more from Paige than a temporary friends-with-benefits arrangement. He wants to take care of her. And her five cats. He also really wants other men to stop asking her to marry them.

But if a roommate and a few orgasms are all she wants, that's what he'll deliver.

He can just be her friend and not commit the greatest sin of all...asking her for forever.

Probably.

Bet The Farm by Staci Hart

🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜

I'd follow The Adventures of Farmgirl any day! Bet The Farm is a feel-good, enemies to more romance that will have your heart racing from both laughter and suspense.

Olivia is a breath of fresh air, and quite possibly one of my favorite heroines to date. Her strength, creativity, loyalty and witty comebacks make the entire story such a wonderful experience.

Jake's swoon level is of the level 5 variety, with his dedication to protect the only place he's ever truly called home. His well-guarded heart makes up for his macho tendencies that he sometimes has a hard time keeping under wraps.

From start to finish, this book had me laughing, holding my breath, swooning, and even shedding a few tears. This is one of the best releases I've read in 2021 and I will definitely be adding it to my physical book collection as well!

😄 Comedy

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

Olivia Brent has one summer to save the dairy farm she just inherited.

But there's one problem, and it's not her lactose intolerance.

Jake Milovic.

The brooding farmhand has inherited exactly fifty percent of Brent Farm, and he's convinced the city girl can't work the land, he bets she can't save it in a summer.

Determined to prove him wrong, Olivia accepts what might be the dumbest wager of her life.

His strategy to win seems simple: follow her around, shirtlessly distracting her between bouts of relentless taunting. And it's effective -- if his dark eyes and rare smiles aren't enough to sidetrack her, the sweaty, rolling topography of the manbeast's body would do the trick.

What they don't know: they'll have to weather more than each other.

Mysterious circumstances throw the farm into disarray, and with the dairy farm in danger, Olivia and Jake have to work together. But when they do, there's more to fear than either of them imagined.

Because now their hearts are on the line, and the farm won't be the only casualty if they fail.

Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams (Bromance Book Club #2)

💛💛💛💛💛

I can't get enough of the Bromance Book Club! Undercover Bromance is a delightful slow burn between two people who couldn't be more different from each other, but right in so many ways.

The bond between the guys only gets more entertaining with each book. I've been highly anticipating Mack's story and this exceeded my expectations.

A great tale of fighting for what you believe in, even when all hope is lost. I love a book when the characters learn who they can truly depend on, as well as those they might have  taken for granted.

Filled with minimal drama, romance, and enough comedy to have you laughing through your tears - you'll be coming back to read this series all over again after each new release!

Love Thy Neighbor by Teagan Hunter (Roommate Romps #2)

🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤

Karaoke will never be the same! Love Thy Neighbor is just how a best friends to lovers tale should be.

Cooper and Caroline's friendship is so genuine and honest, you can't help but fall for them. This was the first friends to more story that even as a reader I was hesitant for them to risk their friendship in the hopes of something more.

This story is the perfect escape from reality with plenty of romance and laughter from start to finish. I loved every moment and definitely listened to Olivia Newton-John during the end.

SUMMARY:

Don't fall for your roommate...especially when he's your best friend.

Cooper Bennett is my best friend.

That's all he is and all he ever will be.

Nothing will change that.

Accidentally seeing him naked? Please. So not a big deal.

Having less-than-tame thoughts? I mean, have you seen this guy? Who could blame me?

Kissing him? It was a one-time mistake, and it will not be repeated.

Falling into bed with him? Uh-oh...

It's fine. We're fine.

Not Your Average Vixen by Krista Sandor

Bridget (Birdie) loses her job and gets cheated on all in the same day. Not only is she organizing her sisters wedding, but she has to babysit the best man who wants to sabotage the entire thing.

Soren (Scooter) views his best friends upcoming wedding as the end-all to his extended family and he'll do anything to prevent that from happening, even if he loses those he cares about in the process. There's so much more to Soren than meets the eye and I loved getting a deeper look into what makes him tick.

Soren and Birdie have the best banter, comebacks and chemistry. From the first page you'll be drawn in and unable to put it down until you finish.

I loved this story and it's quite possibly my favorite holiday story yet. I'll definitely be reading this one every year to get in the holiday spirit!

Oh, Fudge by Erin Nicholas (Hot Cakes #5)

❤❤❤❤❤

You'll be craving fudge for days! Oh, Fudge is a sweet budding romance between two people that always just wanted a light-hearted fling.

Paige Asher is a character that I instantly bonded with over her love of rescuing strays. She's a genuine person that just wants to live her life away from the prying eyes and meddling of her family.

Mitch Landry (let's be serious, you hear the last name Landry and you already know you'll be a goner!) wants more than a fling with Paige and if he has to go the "friend" route to get there, so be it. If his handyman ways don't win you over, his accent sure will!

Erin Nicholas knows just how to write the perfect blend of romance and sweet-talking sass! I adore both of these series and need Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour in my greedy hands now!!!

😄 Comedy

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

Paige Asher likes her men the way she likes her coffee: hot, slightly sweet, and only to-go.

The hot friend-of-a-friend she had a scorching single night with was just about perfect -- tall, rugged, with a sexy drawl...and on the road out of town by six a.m. the next morning. Long before her mom could start picking out wedding flowers.

But now she can't stop thinking about the Louisiana boy. His texts make her smile and she suddenly has a craving for gumbo all the time...hot and spicy and far from home.

Mitch Landry had no idea Iowa would be so hospitable to a visitor. He knew the Midwest had a reputation for friendliness but his welcome gift -- a sassy, sweet blond who is as no-strings-attached as he is -- was a dream come true six months ago.

But why is he still texting her? And why did he jump at the chance to come back to Iowa? And why is he so annoyed by her phobia to commitment this time? And why is he pretty sure leaving Paige this time is going to be one of the hardest things he's ever done?

Damn, is this what falling in love feels like?

Oh, fu...fudge.

Never Have You Ever by Elizabeth Hayley (The Love Game #1)

❤❤❤❤❤

Sassy comedy at its finest! Never Have You Ever is the perfect mix of enemies to lovers and mistaken identity. I was expecting a quick light-hearted comedy, but was pleasantly surprised with a little drama and shocked when I reached the end!

Most of the story revolves around Sophia trying to get her life in the sorority back, but along the way she discovers that it might take more than that to make her happy. I also hope her brother makes more an appearance in the following books, since I secretly want to slap him a bit, lol.

Drew absolutely stole the show for me, although I was dying to see things from his POV towards the end (read and you'll know why!) He's a complete sweetheart who jumps at the chance to have an education, even if it means deceiving those around him.

I stayed up reading this is one sitting and then was happily surprised when Truth or Dare You appeared on my Kindle the next day! Such an amazing new series from a wonderful duo and I can't wait to see what comes next for Drew and Sophia!!!

😄 Comedy

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

Who is this guy?

Sophia Mason's junior year of college isn't exactly off to the best start. The semester has just begun, and the president of her sorority has already ousted her from the house. With nowhere else to turn, she ends up at her brother's apartment -- only to find it inhabited instead by a handsome stranger.

On paper, Drew Nolan doesn't have much going for him as an uneducated bartender from a sketchy family. But when a spoiled rich kid asks Drew to take over his life so he can travel around Europe instead of attend classes, Drew sees the opportunity to get the college education he's always dreamed of.

Forced into a cover-up under the same roof, Sophia and Drew forge an unlikely friendship. As the two grow closer, lines blur and boundaries stretch, and they find comfort in living the lie they've adopted. But reality comes knocking all too soon, and Sophia and Drew will have to weigh what's worth fighting for and what should never ever have been.

Date Me Like You Mean It by R.S. Grey

❤❤❤❤❤

Caution: Do not read while drinking/eating. Date Me Like You Mean It had me laughing so hard, Dr. Pepper came out my nose, and THAT burns!

With only being able to hear Maddie's side of the story for a majority of the book, you'll often wonder what Aiden is going through, but that's rectified soon enough!

I love the chemistry between Aiden and Maddie, not only in their friendship, but as their feelings grow towards one another. Even if you want to cry at some points, I promise this story is worth the slow burn.

I love a good friends to lovers romance, especially when they know everything about each other. This has all of that, plus the bonus of witty banter that only the best of friends can provide. Another wonderful RomCom from R.S. Grey and I'll be reading it again very soon!

😄 Comedy

💋 Romance

SUMMARY:

I'm good at hiding my feelings.

Having to pretend I'm not in love with my best friend?

Pfft. That's child's play.

Here's how I do it: I avert my eyes when he walks out of his room, shirtless in all his toned glory. I squash the butterflies that fill my stomach every time he slowly unfurls a dimpled smile. And, most importantly, I keep an arsenal of "personal massagers" in my bedside drawer. Wink.

Not to brag, but Aiden Smith isn't hard to resist if you've been doing it for as long as I have. In fact, we might have continued as best friends forever if not for the fact that I needed him to play the part of my fake boyfriend.

Date me like you mean it, I told him. Nudge nudge. C'mon, just go along with a little lie, help a girl out, and then we can all return to life as we know it.

Except he veered from the plan.

He crossed the line.

Flirting with me when no one else was around? Pinning me down and kissing me like that? Okay, how exactly is taking off my bra part of the ruse, Aiden?!

I'd ask him about it if I could, but well...things got ugly and we're not best friends anymore.

In fact, we're the exact opposite.

Now, I have to play nice even though I want to crush his heart in the palm of my hand.

Pretending not to love Aiden was the easy part.

Pretending not to hate him?

Well...I might need a little more practice.
