Blood of Zeus by Meredith Wild & Angel Payne (Blood of Zeus #1)

🗲🗲🗲🗲🗲

A paranormal romance that is out of this world! Blood of Zeus has me wanting to go back to college just so I can find my own Professor Kane.

Maximus Kane will win your heart from the first page. He struggles daily with the aftermath of what his unknown abilities have done to his best friend, luckily he's living his life to the fullest.

Kara Valari knows what fate has in store for her, whether she agrees with it or not, she has no choice in the matter. Her family is famous and constantly in the public eye, but she's had her fill of being told what to do...

I need Heart of Fire stat, and would pretty much sell a kidney for it right now! This series is SO good, it'll draw you in until the last page.

I love all the ties to mythology and how the authors have the perfect way of stringing you along. You'll be constantly guessing where Kara and Maximus come from, but how things can possibly work out for either of them.

This is definitely my new paranormal romance and I'm sure I'll be reading it again before the next installment releases. Be still my heart and step aside Thor, I've got a new God of a book boyfriend in Maximus Kane!

💋 Romance
🙈 Suspense

SUMMARY:

An ancient grudge. A forbidden love.

The only thing worse than being a demon is being a Valari. As an undergraduate at Los Angeles's Alameda University, Kara Valari can sometimes succeed at forgetting she's both. Lost between the pages of the classics and tucked into the shadows of lecture halls, she can dodge the paparazzi's lenses as well as her family's publicized dramas -- not to mention their private expectations. She has one more year to feed her true passions. Then she'll be expected to fulfill a much darker destiny.

Cursed with inexplicable strength and god-like stature, literature professor Maximus Kane knows all about darkness. Every day he's reminded of the missteps of his childhood and the devastating consequences they've had on those dearest to him. To atone, Maximus spends his nights alone and his days submerged in the quiet life of academia. His existence has become a study in control, and he's become a master at it -- until Kara Valari walks into his toughest course.

Viscerally, Kara's everything he craves. Logically, she's everything he rejects. She's a starlet of privilege. She's also a student. And after one touch, he can't deny that she's awakened something in him that may never go dormant. Nothing about her makes sense, but everything about her feels right. Especially in the deepest strands of his DNA, which are still shadows of mystery to him -- a mystery Kara seems determined to uncover.

She's Hollywood royalty. She's forbidden fruit. And he's pretty sure she could be the answer to everything.

The Will and the Wilds by Charlie N. Holmberg

🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄

The Will and the Wilds is a magical journey! I was enthralled from the very beginning, and love when an author makes me question falling for certain characters.

Enna is a young girl, fascinated with mythical creatures. Her father has sacrificed everything to keep her safe, but with one wrong move, her life is changed forever.

Maekallus is just trying to survive, until his path crosses with Enna, and they both must find a solution to their predicament, or die trying.

There were times with the story, that I was afraid things wouldn't work out, whether it was in the way I wanted or not. This story was bewitching in the best way, and I love that the author even composed a song to help bring it to life!

I've read The Will and the Wilds twice now, and the audio book was definitely the way to go. The characters are brought to life in vivid detail, and even though I knew what was going to happen, I still found myself gasping or crying at certain parts.

It has the perfect mix of fantasy, magic and romance. The story line will stay in your thoughts for days, until you find yourself reading it all over again. A beautifully woven tale, with enchanting characters and a world every reader longs to escape in.

**On a side note: After hearing Charlie talk about the creation of this story, I'm very much looking forward to seeing every kissing scene in a whole new light from now one. (Ask me if you want to know more!)

💫 Adventure
🌌 Fantasy

Summary:

Enna knows to fear the mystings that roam the wildwood near her home. When one tries to kill her to obtain an enchanted stone, Enna takes a huge risk: fighting back with a mysting of her own.

Maekallus's help isn't free. His price? A kiss. One with the power to steal her soul. But their deal leaves Maekallus bound to the mortal realm, which begins eating him alive. Only Enna's kiss, given willingly, can save him from immediate destruction. It's a temporary salvation for Maekallus and a lingering doom for Enna. Part of her soul now burns bright inside Maekallus, making him feel for the first time.

Enna shares Maekallus's suffering, but her small sacrifice won't last long. If she and Maekallus can't break the spell binding him to the mortal realm, Maekallus will be consumed completely -- and Enna's soul with him.

Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier (Ruby Red Trilogy #1)

💗💗💗💗💗

The first book in the Ruby Red Trilogy introduces you to Gwyneth Shepherd. She was raised her entire life to believe that it would one day be her cousin Charlotte, who would have the ability to travel in time. One day she's shocked to discover that her mother lied about her birth date so nobody would suspect it was Gwyneth, enabling her to have a normal childhood.

After the family discovers the truth, Gwyneth is surrounded by skeptism, hurt and lies - and that's just within her family. She is then forced to work with Gideon, another time traveler, to learn what she needs to know before venturing into the unknown.

As Gideon and Gwyneth travel back in time, they start to discover that perhaps they haven't been everything and there are some secrets left to uncover. Not to mention a creepy count and family members that have escaped permanently into the past.

I haven't ventured into the YA world in a few years, so add in the Fantasy elements and I was hesitant to start this series (only because it's out of my norm). It was recommended by a friend of mine and my only regret is not starting it sooner!

I purchased the audiobook when she told me about the series, but I kept putting it off for other books. One day I was in a rut and needed something new, so I started this at work and didn't stop listening until the end. I immediately bought the rest of the series and the boxed paperback set!

Ruby Red is my favorite surprise read of 2018! With several mysteries to unravel, time travel aspects, family dynamics and more, you'll be captivated from the first page and drawn in to this stellar novel. I can't say this enough - EVERYONE should read this series!
