Carpentry and Cocktails by Nora Everly (Green Valley Library #5)

💙💙💙💙💙

My favorite so far from Nora Everly! I'm astounded every time I read a new book from this author and I kick myself for not discovering her writing sooner.

Carpentry and Cocktails ties perfectly into the Green Valley Library series and will dive into the lives of a few characters you've met in the previous books, but can be read as a stand alone.

Willa is the kind of character who makes the most out of a bad situation, but pushes people away to protect them, even if it's at the expense of her own happiness.

Along comes Everett who refuses to take no for an answer and sees more than just the immediate possibilities with Willa. This man will sweep you off your feet and create some high expectations for men in reality, lol.

A beautiful story about not giving up and overcoming what life throws at you. If there's one book you don't want to miss out on, it's this one! Full of compassion, romance, humor and strength - this has it all.

SUMMARY:

Everett Monroe can't keep his eyes off his gorgeous tenant.

He'd like to put his hands on her too, but she's prickly, closed-off, and gives new meaning  to the word disgruntled. In other words, she's his perfect match and he'll do anything to make her see it too.

Willa Hill has finally left her teen runaway past behind and wants a fresh start -- alone. Men are nothing but trouble and she's had enough man-trouble to last a lifetime. Too bad her irresistibly sexy, nerdy-hot landlord doesn't agree.

When their mutual yearning becomes a white-hot fling and passion crosses carefully drawn, albeit one-sided boundaries, Everett finds himself in love and Will finds herself in a pickle.

Because, unfortunately, when she returned to Green Valley, her problems came too. When the past she escaped crashes into the future she finds herself wanting more than anything, will Willa stay in Green Valley?

Or will she run away again?

Beef Cake by Jiffy Kate (Donner Bakery #4)

🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊

Beef Cake is an absolute knockout! This book has a little bit of everything - comedy, drama, romance and action. Jiffy Kate knocked this new addition to the Donner Bakery series out of the park.

Frankie is definitely the star of this show. Her issues from childhood that she's trying to overcome definitely affect her current day situations, both bad and good. She's stubborn and lovable, making you want to protect her just as much as Gunnar does.

Gunnar on the other hand is an all-around genuinely great guy. He's trying to make his family proud while pursuing the one girl he can't get out of his head.

This story was a lot deeper than I expected it to be, but what a wonderful journey Jiffy Kate takes you on. I wasn't able to put this one down and was still thinking about it days later. Definitely add this one to your must-read collection!

SUMMARY:

If opposites do actually attract, then Gunnar Erickson and Frankie Reeves take the cake.

Frankie Reeves is complicated, even though she won't admit it. She fills her days working as an ER nurse, taking care of her mom, and searching for the father she never knew. Anything else has no place in her perfectly compartmentalized, purposefully simple life. Attachments? No thank you. She has no time for that.

Gunnar Erickson recently moved to Green Valley to train at Viking MMA with his brother Cage. Being the youngest of the Erickson clan, he's always felt like he has something to prove, and now that he's finished with college, it's his time to shine. But before he can step into the ring, a freak accident send him to the ER and into the care of one Frankie Reeves.

While he's immediately smitten, she pretends to be unfazed by this six-foot-three, two hundred and thirty-pound beefcake. Gunnar sets out to prove to Frankie that, not only does she like him more than she wants to admit, but he's not the uneducated, brute she assumes he is. To Frankie he's the worst kind of complication, but that doesn't make it easy to stay away.
